In Kolkata, offering a seat is often followed by 'Jol khaben?' (Will you drink water?), as it's customary to offer water to anyone who enters from the heat. Hospitality is extremely proactive. A host might physically pull out a chair or dust it off with their hand/handkerchief before saying 'Bashen' (a dialectal variant of Basun). In these circles, 'Anugraha kare' is preferred over 'Doya kare' as it sounds more 'Suddho' (pure/refined). If chairs aren't available, you might be offered a 'Mora' (cane stool) or a 'Paati' (mat). The phrase remains the same, showing that respect isn't tied to the quality of the furniture.
