The 'Taat' is often worshipped during festivals like Diwali (Naivedya). You never step over a plate; it is considered disrespectful to the food (Annapurna). In traditional 'Chitpavan' or 'Deshastha' households, a 'Citrahuti' (small offering of rice) is placed beside the plate before saying 'Taat ghya'. In villages, 'Taat ghya' is often followed by 'Pota-bhar jeva' (Eat until your stomach is full), showing immense hospitality. In cities, even with buffet systems, a host might hand a plate to an elder and say 'Taat ghya' to maintain tradition.
