Subjunctive in Complex Clauses

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

The subjunctive mood expresses wishes, suggestions, or hypothetical conditions using the -se suffix combined with personal endings.

  • Use -se for hypothetical conditions: 'Gelse, konuşurduk' (If he came, we would talk).
  • Use -se for wishes: 'Keşke gelse!' (I wish he would come!).
  • Use -se in complex clauses to indicate dependency: 'Gelmesini istiyorum' (I want him to come).
Verb Stem + se + Personal Ending = Subjunctive Mood
