Mixed Conditionals
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Mixed conditionals combine past and present to talk about how a past event changes your current reality.
- Type 3+2: If I had done X (past), I would be Y (now).
- Type 2+3: If I were X (general), I would have done Y (past).
- Use 'had + past participle' for the past and 'would + verb' for the present.
Meanings
Mixed conditionals are used when the time of the condition and the time of the result are different.
Past Cause, Present Result
A past action affecting the present state.
“যদি আমি তাকে চিনতাম, তবে আজ সে আমার সাথে থাকত।”
“যদি আমি গতকাল রাতে ঘুমাতাম, তবে এখন আমার ক্লান্তি লাগত না।”
