Using this phrase is very simple. You just say it as a complete sentence. If you want to be more polite, add कृपया (kripya) at the start. For friends, just the three words work perfectly. It is a great phrase for beginners. You don't need complex grammar here. Just point to the mask and say the words. It is like telling someone to 'put on your shoes.'

If you are hosting a small gathering, say it to guests. It shows you care about everyone's health. You can also text it to a friend before meeting up. It is a very practical, modern-day Hindi essential.

Do not use this with your boss or elders. For them, use the respectful version पहन लीजिए (pehn lijiye). Avoid saying it if someone is already wearing one. That might seem a bit confusing or rude! Also, don't use it in a very formal speech. In those cases, use 'mask ka upyog karein.' It is too casual for a government announcement. Keep it for peers, younger people, or close family.

Before 2020, you would rarely hear this in India. Now, it is part of the daily vocabulary. In many Indian cities, pollution is also a major factor. People wear masks to protect against dust and smog.
