Forming Yes/No Questions: With and Without -՞
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Ask yes/no questions by placing the ՞ symbol over the stressed vowel of the key word or using rising intonation.
- Use the ՞ (shat) symbol on the stressed vowel of the word you are questioning: 'Դու գնո՞ւմ ես:'
- In spoken Armenian, simply raise your pitch at the end of the sentence without the particle.
- The particle ՞ is always attached to the stressed vowel of the word being queried.
