Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Hungarian words choose their suffixes based on their vowels; if a word has back vowels (a, o, u), the suffix must also use back vowels.
- Rule 1: If the last vowel is a, o, or u, use back-vowel suffixes (e.g., ház-ban).
- Rule 2: Back vowels are 'deep' sounds produced in the back of the throat.
- Rule 3: Always check the last vowel of the root word before adding any ending.
