Reflexive Pronouns
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'tannu' (ತನ್ನು) or 'swayam' (ಸ್ವಯಂ) to indicate that the action is performed by the subject upon themselves.
- Use 'tannu' when the subject performs an action on themselves: 'avanu tannannu nodidanu' (He saw himself).
- Use 'swayam' for emphasis, meaning 'by oneself' or 'personally': 'swayam krushi' (self-cultivation).
- Reflexive pronouns must agree with the subject's gender and number in formal contexts.
Meanings
Reflexive pronouns are used when the subject and the object of a sentence are the same person or entity.
