Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Turn any statement into a yes/no question simply by adding 'bo' at the end of the sentence.

  • Place 'bo' at the very end of a statement to ask a yes/no question: 'ເຈົ້າກິນເຂົ້າບໍ່?' (Do you eat rice?)
  • The tone remains neutral; 'bo' acts as the question mark in spoken Lao.
  • You can combine it with other particles like 'ແລ້ວ' (already) to ask 'Have you eaten yet?'
Statement + ບໍ່ (bo) = Question?
