पोस्ट करना

You treat पोस्ट as the noun and करना as the action. The verb करना changes based on who is doing the posting. If you posted something yesterday, you say मैंने पोस्ट किया. If you are doing it now, it's मैं पोस्ट कर रहा हूँ. It’s very flexible. You can add the platform name before it too. For example, फेसबुक पर पोस्ट करना (to post on Facebook). It’s like building a Lego set with words.

Use this anytime you talk about social media. It’s perfect for texting friends about a new photo. Use it at work when discussing a company update on LinkedIn. You can also use it at the post office. If you're telling your mom you sent her a package, पोस्ट करना fits perfectly. It’s a very safe, everyday expression. You’ll hear it in cafes, offices, and homes across India.

Don't use this if you mean 'to place' an object physically. For example, don't say पोस्ट करना if you are putting a glass on a table. That would be रखना. Also, avoid it in very high-level literary Hindi. In a formal poem or a classical speech, scholars might prefer प्रकाशित करना (to publish). But for 99% of your life, पोस्ट करना is exactly what you need. Don't overthink it!
