Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Logical transitions like 'бірақ' (but) or 'сондықтан' (therefore) act as bridges between your thoughts to make your speech flow naturally.
- Use 'бірақ' to contrast two opposing ideas: 'Ол келді, бірақ кеш қалды' (He came, but he was late).
- Use 'сондықтан' to show cause and effect: 'Жаңбыр жауды, сондықтан біз үйде қалдық' (It rained, so we stayed home).
- Use 'сонымен қатар' to add information: 'Ол ән айтады, сонымен қатар билейді' (He sings, and also dances).
Meanings
Logical transitions are words or phrases that connect ideas, showing relationships like contrast, consequence, or addition.
Contrast
Showing an opposition between two clauses.
“Ол шаршады, бірақ жұмысын жалғастырды.”
“Бұл оңай емес, алайда мүмкін.”
Consequence
Showing that one action leads to another.
“Ол оқымады, сондықтан емтиханнан құлады.”

Addition
Adding extra information to a previous point.

Both mean 'but', but they have different formality levels.
