istisna

When you are talking and most things are one way, but a few things are different, those few things are an exception. Imagine you have a rule, but sometimes the rule doesn't work for everything. The word for that special case is istisna in Turkish. For example, if all your friends like apples, but one friend likes oranges, that friend is an istisna. It means something that is not part of the general rule or group.
