Review Summary

  • Greeting + Name
  • Verb + -sınız
  • Adım + [Name]
  • Nasılsınız?

Errores comunes

Using the informal 'Sen' (Nasılsın) with a stranger can seem rude. Always use the formal 'Siz' (Nasılsınız) initially.

Wrong: Nasılsın? (to a stranger)
Correcto: Nasılsınız? (to a stranger)

While grammatically possible, it is redundant. 'Adım' already implies 'My name'.

Wrong: Benim adım Alex'dir.
Correcto: Adım Alex.

Mixing a polite greeting with an informal question creates a register mismatch. Keep it formal until invited otherwise.

Wrong: Merhaba, nasılsın?
Correcto: Merhaba, nasılsınız?
