Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Croatian uses a flexible Subject-Verb-Object order, but the most common way to start is simply Subject + Verb + Object.

  • Subject often comes first: 'Ja čitam knjigu' (I read a book).
  • The verb agrees with the subject: 'On radi' (He works).
  • Negation adds 'ne' before the verb: 'Ja ne radim' (I do not work).
👤 (Subject) + 🏃 (Verb) + 📦 (Object)
