Position of Adjectives in a Sentence

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Croatian, adjectives almost always come before the noun they describe, just like in English.

  • Place the adjective before the noun: 'lijepa kuća' (beautiful house).
  • Adjectives must agree with the noun in gender, case, and number.
  • When using multiple adjectives, the order is flexible but usually follows size, age, then color.
