A 'serious decision' is rarely made in isolation. It usually involves a 'Sohbat' (talk) with the head of the family. To ignore this step can be seen as a lack of respect. In Iranian business, a 'tasmim-e jeddi' from a manager is often signaled by a formal letter (Nameh) rather than just an email or verbal agreement. Young Iranians use this phrase to signal 'authenticity' in an era of performative social media. It means 'I'm actually doing this, it's not just for likes.' The concept of 'Niyyat' (intention) is related. A 'tasmim-e jeddi' is seen as a strong Niyyat that God will help you achieve.
