Asking 'How are you?' is often followed by 'Have you eaten?' (Sapteengala?). Food is a primary way of showing care. The word 'எப்படி' is used similarly, but the accent and some verb endings might differ (e.g., 'எப்படி இருக்கிறீயள்?'). In these regions, 'எப்படி' might be mixed with English or Malay words in casual 'Manglish' or 'Tanglish' contexts. Second-generation speakers often use 'எப்படி' as a catch-all for any inquiry, sometimes losing the formal 'எவ்வாறு' entirely.
