Ukrainians write dates as DD.MM.YYYY. Asking 'Яка сьогодні дата?' will always get you the day first, then the month. Due to the Julian calendar, some religious people might distinguish between the 'civil' date and the 'church' date. In Ukrainian offices, the date is often called 'число'. Using 'дата' sounds more formal and professional. Young Ukrainians often use English loanwords in slang, but for dates, they strictly stick to 'число' or 'дата'.
