- Use 'must' for internal obligation: 'I must study harder.'
- Use 'have to' for external rules: 'I have to wear a uniform at work.'
- Negative 'mustn't' means 'don't do it', but 'don't have to' means 'it's optional'.
Overview
must और have to का उपयोग। हम सभी जानते हैं कि जब हमें किसी काम को करने की 'मजबूरी' या 'ज़रूरत' (necessity) दिखानी होती है, तो हम इन शब्दों का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। हिंदी में हम इसके लिए 'पड़ता है' या 'चाहिए' जैसे शब्दों का प्रयोग करते हैं, लेकिन English में इन दोनों के बीच का अंतर समझना बहुत ज़रूरी है।must और have to के बीच एक बारीक रेखा है। must एक modal verb है। सोचिए, आप एक क्रिकेट मैच खेल रहे हैं और अंपायर ने कहा, 'You have to wear a helmet'. यहाँ अंपायर का नियम है, आपकी मर्ज़ी नहीं। हिंदी में हम इसे 'पड़ता है' (जैसे: मुझे रोज़ काम पर जाना पड़ता है) के साथ जोड़ सकते हैं।must | 'करना ही चाहिए' (खुद की इच्छा/ज़ोर) | Internal/Personal |have to | 'करना पड़ता है' (नियम/दबाव) | External/Rules |must के साथ कोई बदलाव नहीं होता, लेकिन have to में कर्ता (subject) के अनुसार बदलाव आता है।has to का प्रयोग होता है, जबकि 'I/You/We/They' के साथ have to का। यह हिंदी के 'उसे जाना है' (He has to go) और 'मुझे जाना है' (I have to go) जैसा ही है।must का उपयोग तब करें जब आप किसी को बहुत ज़ोर देकर सलाह दे रहे हों या अपनी कोई बहुत बड़ी ज़रूरत बता रहे हों। जैसे, 'You must watch this movie!' (यह सलाह है, क्योंकि आपको फिल्म बहुत अच्छी लगी)।have to का उपयोग तब करें जब कोई नियम हो। जैसे, 'You have to show your ID card at the gate' (यह सुरक्षा का नियम है)। अगर आप यहाँ must लगाएंगे, तो यह बहुत कठोर लगेगा। सवाल पूछते समय हमेशा have to का इस्तेमाल करें। जैसे, 'Do I have to bring my bag?' (क्या मुझे बैग लाना है?)। कभी भी 'Must I bring my bag?'
mustका प्रयोग: कई लोग कहते हैं 'I must go yesterday'। यह गलत है। English मेंmustका past tense नहीं होता। इसके लिए हमेशाhad toका प्रयोग करें। जैसे: 'I had to go yesterday.' - 3Questions में
mustका उपयोग: हम हिंदी में 'क्या मुझे जाना चाहिए?' पूछते हैं, इसलिए हम English में भी 'Must I go?' कह देते हैं। यह गलत नहीं है, लेकिन बहुत ही unnatural है। हमेशा 'Do I have to go?' कहें।
had to | must का past रूप नहीं होता |must not | काम करना वर्जित है |don't have to | काम करना ज़रूरी नहीं है |- 1क्या
mustऔरhave toएक ही हैं? नहीं,mustनिजी है,have toबाहरी नियम है। - 2क्या मैं 'He must to go' कह सकता हूँ? नहीं,

will have toका प्रयोग करें। जैसे: 'I will have to work tomorrow.'
must और have to का अंतर समझ आ गया होगा। अगली बार जब आप चाय की दुकान पर अपने दोस्त से बात करें, तो कोशिश करें कि इन शब्दों का सही इस्तेमाल करें!2. Contractions and Negatives

अक्सर पूछे जाने वाले सवाल (8)
No, not for obligation. You must use `had to`. If you use `must have`, it means you are making a guess about the past (e.g., 'He must have been tired').
Actually, `must` can sound more bossy or aggressive in some contexts. `Have to` is usually more neutral because it sounds like the rule comes from somewhere else, not just you.
It is an informal version of `have to`. 'I've got to go' is very common in spoken English and is often shortened to 'I gotta'.
It exists, but it is very rare in speech. Americans usually say 'You can't' or 'You're not allowed to' instead of `mustn't`.
`Must` is a modal verb, and modal verbs never change their form. `Have to` is a semi-modal and follows regular verb rules for the third person.
Yes, but it sounds very formal. 'Must you leave so soon?' is correct but sounds like a movie from the 1940s. 'Do you have to leave?' is more modern.
They are very similar. `Need to` focuses more on the necessity for the person, while `have to` focuses more on the requirement or rule.
They are often used for the same thing (prohibition). `Mustn't` is more formal and authoritative; `can't` is more common in daily speech.
