Don't use it for ongoing actions or things that aren't 'tasks'. You wouldn't say your coffee is finalizado if you just finished drinking it; acabei is better there. Avoid it in highly emotional contexts. You don't 'finalize' a breakup with a friend; that sounds like a business merger gone wrong. Keep it for things that have a clear start and end point.
