The phrase is often followed by 'Hayırlı olsun' (May it be auspicious) if the 'work' was a big deal like buying a house or starting a business. An 'iş bitirici' person is someone who can navigate the complex 'torpil' (nepotism) or bureaucratic systems to get results. In old movies, 'İşini bitirmek' was the classic line used by villains before they tried to eliminate the hero. The concept of finishing a task was often tied to religious duty; completing one's work well was seen as a form of worship ('Hizmet').
