Using Conjunctions for Contrast and Choice
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use 'բայց' (bayts) for contrast and 'կամ' (kam) for choice to connect your ideas naturally.
- Use 'բայց' to show contrast: 'Ես ուզում եմ գնալ, բայց ժամանակ չունեմ' (I want to go, but I don't have time).
- Use 'կամ' to offer a choice: 'Սուրճ կամ թեյ կխմե՞ք' (Will you drink coffee or tea?).
- These conjunctions connect two independent clauses or two nouns/adjectives seamlessly.
Meanings
These conjunctions are essential for building complex sentences. 'Բայց' introduces a contradiction, while 'կամ' presents an alternative.
Contrast (But)
Used to introduce a statement that contrasts with or contradicts the previous one.
“Նա հոգնած է, բայց աշխատում է։”
