Use 'ໂດຍ' (doy) or 'ເຈົ້າ' (chao) at the end of sentences to show respect and social distance in Lao.

  • Use 'ໂດຍ' (doy) for formal male speech: 'ຂອບໃຈໂດຍ' (Thank you).
  • Use 'ເຈົ້າ' (chao) for formal female speech: 'ສະບາຍດີເຈົ້າ' (Hello).
