surround (verb)
To be situated all around something or someone, forming a border or enclosure. It can also refer to the act of encircling something to prevent escape or to provide a complete view.
Think of 'SUR-' as 'SUPER' and 'ROUND' as a circle. To surround is to be SUPER ROUND something—all the way around!
