Hello

00:05

Friends and welcome to another video

00:08

This week we're gonna be visiting some of the most unique vending machines in Tokyo.

00:14

Yes, that's right,

00:15

we're heading back to Japan and we're gonna be hitting up their vending machines,

00:19

hard.

00:20

Now for some context,

00:22

there are a ton of vending machines in Japan, like they are everywhere

00:26

and they mostly sell convenient items like hot and cold coffee and tea

00:31

Water and sports drinks,

00:33

for people to grab on the way to school or work or in our case, to fend off jet lag.

00:38

Apparently Japan has the highest vending machine per capita rate

00:42

with one machine for every 23 people,

00:44

which isn't really a stat I thought existed until right now

00:48

But it makes sense,

00:50

because it almost feels like you're outnumbered when you're there

00:53

and people have mentioned that these 5 million some vending machines

00:57

Can make up to 7 trillion yen per year

01:00

Which is about 70 billion dollars

01:03

and I will say that on our Japan trip last year

01:05

We definitely partook in many of the vending machines stationed around Tokyo

01:10

Especially because of how convenient they are

01:13

If you have a pass mo or Suica card for the subway,

01:16

you can just get whatever you want whenever you want

01:20

however

01:21

It was only after our trip

01:22

that we discovered how many different kinds of vending machines there are

01:26

like ones that sell hot foods like pizza

01:29

fresh produce

01:31

mystery electronics

01:32

snails in a can

01:34

there's even a vending machine restaurant with no people in it.

01:37

It's just a room full of hot food vending machines

01:40

So in light of all of that,

01:42

we've scouted out four interesting vending machines in Tokyo to visit while we're there

01:47

All right,

01:48

to Tokyo we go

01:50

So obviously the first step to getting to our Japanese vending machines

01:55

was to fly to Japan

01:56

Now in Tokyo we stayed at a hotel in the Shinjuku area

02:00

Which has like a giant train station that served as a hub for us to get all over the place in Tokyo

02:07

It's a really big station

02:08

I think you can take a train within the station to another part of the station

02:12

and our vending machine adventure day was like our third day in Japan,

02:17

so needless to say we were a little jet-lagged but excited to explore

02:21

All right

02:22

So we are right now here in shinjuku park near our hotel

02:26

and we are ready to set off on our vending machine excursion

02:29

Our first vending machine was one that we had seen written about online

02:33

That contains a couple of interesting food items

02:36

and is located in the Kichijōji area.

02:39

Kichijōji? Does that sound right?

02:41

I feel like this video is just gonna be full of me saying Japanese locations pretty badly.

02:46

Mediocrely.

02:47

Yeah, so just be prepared for that.

02:49

So, let's do this

02:50

I could probably use a coffee from like a normal vending machine. Yeah. Yeah. Let's hit one of those first. Multiple.

02:55

That's a win

02:57

So we hopped on the subway heading west to get to our first vending machine

03:01

now Kichijōji is a semi-residential

03:04

but very cool and desirable area

03:06

That's a little outside the center of Tokyo

03:08

that besides having many shopping alleyways and boutique restaurants

03:12

is also the home to some very scenic parks that house many interesting vending machines

03:18

alright, so we are here at

03:21

Inokashira park, yes. Yes, perfect

03:24

Nailed it! Yes

03:26

With rinrin

03:27

Who is a Japanese YouTuber and Lolita model who helped us out last year with our Tokyo makeover,

03:33

and she is here to help us identify what unique things we shall be eating from these vending machines

03:38

and maybe eating a couple herself. I don't know I won't put pressure.

03:41

But maybe, maybe she wants to try one or two

03:44

yeah

03:44

Now there are a lot of vending machines in this park

03:47

But one that's caught my attention, in particular, is this one that has canned bread in it?

03:52

I mean once I heard of canned bread I was like I need it, I need it. That baby needs it, too, we all need it
