Present Perfect mit Zustandsverben (Ich habe gekannt, sie ist gewesen)
Present Perfect.
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use Present Perfect with state verbs to describe situations that started in the past and continue right now.
- Use 'have/has' + past participle for states like 'know' or 'be'. Example: 'I have been here since noon.'
- Never use the '-ing' form with state verbs in this context. Example: 'I have known him' NOT 'I have been knowing him'.
- Use 'for' for a period of time and 'since' for a specific starting point. Example: 'I've had this car for a month.'
Overview
I know him since ten years – und genau hier erkennt jeder Muttersprachler sofort, dass wir keine Native Speaker sind. Im Englischen gibt es eine klare Trennung zwischen dem, was jetzt gerade passiert, und Zuständen, die in der Vergangenheit begonnen haben und bis heute andauern.run, eat, write) und *State Verbs* (Zustandsverben wie know, be, have, believe).-ing Form) stehen. Du sagst nicht I am knowing you, sondern I know you.I have been ill since Monday. |I have known her since university. |He has had the house since 2010. |- 1Das Hilfsverb
haveoderhas(im Präsens). - 2Das Past Participle (die 3. Verbform) des Zustandsverbs.
Subject + have/has + Past ParticipleI / You / We / They | have ('ve) | been / known / had / loved | I have been busy. |He / She / It | has ('s) | been / known / had / loved | She has had a cold. |- Regelmäßige Verben: Viele Zustandsverben sind regelmäßig und enden auf
-ed(z.B.love->loved,believe->believed). - Unregelmäßige Verben: Die wichtigsten State Verbs sind leider oft unregelmäßig. Diese musst du auswendig lernen:
be->been,have->had,know->known,understand->understood. - Verneinung: Hier fügst du einfach ein
notein:I have not (haven't) known him for long. - Fragen: Das Hilfsverb rückt an den Satzanfang:
Have you been here before?oderHow long has she had that car?
I've, You've, He's, She's). Aber Vorsicht: He's kann sowohl He is als auch He has bedeuten. Den Unterschied erkennst du am folgenden Wort.been, ist es immer das Present Perfect.for und since ins Spiel.fornutzt du für einen Zeitraum (wie lange?):for two hours, for five years, for ages.sincenutzt du für einen Zeitpunkt (seit wann?):since 9 o'clock, since 2012,since I was a child.
We have been together for three years. (Wir sind seit drei Jahren zusammen).I have always loved jazz music.(Ich habe Jazzmusik schon immer geliebt – und tue es noch). She has believed in that theory for a long time.(Sie glaubt schon lange an diese Theorie).
have als Hauptverb im Present Perfect, was zu der Konstruktion have had führt. Das klingt für uns anfangs komisch, ist aber absolut korrekt.I've had this smartphone since Christmas.(Ich habe dieses Smartphone seit Weihnachten). They have owned this house for decades.(Ihnen gehört dieses Haus seit Jahrzehnten).
He has been the CEO since last year.(Er ist seit letztem Jahr der CEO).I haven't been this happy for a while.(Ich war schon eine Weile nicht mehr so glücklich).
I am here since two years existiert nicht.- Falsch:
*I am here since 2020. - Richtig:
I have been here since 2020. - Warum? Sobald ein Zeitraum in die Vergangenheit reicht, braucht das Englische zwingend das Present Perfect. Das Wort
sinceist ein magnetisches Signalwort für das Present Perfect.
-ing)Present Perfect Continuous), weil sie so schön nach „Dauer“ klingt. Bei Tätigkeitsverben ist das auch super (I have been waiting). Aber State Verbs hassen die -ing Form.- Falsch:
*I have been knowing him for years. - Richtig:
I have known him for years. - Warum? Wissen ist kein Prozess, den man aktiv „tut“. Es ist ein Zustand. Zustände sind im Englischen statisch und vertragen kein
-ing.
since und for- Falsch:
*I have lived here since three months. - Richtig:
I have lived here for three months. - Eselsbrücke:
Sinceist ein Punkt auf der Uhr oder im Kalender (ein „S“ wie Startpunkt).Forist eine Zahl oder eine Dauer (eine „F“ wie Frist/Fülle der Zeit).
I was a teacher in 2010. (Ich bin es jetzt nicht mehr.) |I have been a teacher since 2010. (Ich bin es immer noch.) |- Present Perfect Continuous:
I have been working.(Fokus auf der Aktivität, oft bei Action Verbs). - Present Perfect Simple (mit State Verbs):
I have been tired.(Fokus auf dem Zustand, zwingend bei State Verbs).
I have been having headaches, klingt das nach wiederkehrenden Anfällen (Aktion). Wenn du sagst I have had a headache since this morning, beschreibst du den kontinuierlichen Zustand des Schmerzes.have had wirklich so sagen? Present Perfect with State Verbs

Smart Tips
Stop! If you use 'for' or 'since', you must change 'am' to 'have been'.
Don't be afraid of 'have had'. It's perfectly normal English.
Verbs like 'like', 'love', and 'hate' are states. Use Present Perfect Simple for duration.
Aussprache
Contraction Stress
In natural speech, 'I have' becomes 'I've' /aɪv/. The 'v' sound is very short.
The 'h' in 'has'
When 'has' is not contracted, the 'h' is often dropped in fast speech: 'She's been' /ʃiz bɪn/.
Duration Emphasis
I've been here for ↗FIVE hours!
Rising intonation on the time period shows surprise or annoyance.

Kulturelle Hinweise
Brits are very strict about using Present Perfect for recent states. 'I've just been to the shops' is more common than 'I was just at the shops'.
Americans sometimes use the Past Simple where Brits use the Present Perfect, but for state verbs with 'for/since', the Present Perfect is still the standard.
Using 'I have been' instead of 'I am' for duration is a key marker of professional fluency in international meetings.
The Present Perfect comes from the Old English 'habban' (to have) combined with a past participle to show possession of a completed act.

FAQ (8)
No. 'Know' is a state verb. You must say `I've known him`.
Use `for` for a period of time (for 2 hours) and `since` for a starting point (since 2 o'clock).
Yes! The first 'have' is the auxiliary verb, and 'had' is the past participle of the main verb 'have' (meaning to possess).
The Present Simple only describes the current moment. To include the past duration, English requires the `Present Perfect`.
Yes, but 'live' and 'work' are special. You can use either `Present Perfect Simple` or `Continuous` with them with almost no change in meaning.
Yes! `I have always loved pizza` is a perfect example of a state that started in the past and continues.
Switch the subject and 'have/has'. For example: `Have you been here long?`
If the state is finished, use the `Past Simple`. Example: 'I was a student for four years' (but I am not now).
