The phrase reflects the value of 'Kan' (Karma). If you miss an opportunity, people might say 'Kan ma par lo' (Because you didn't have the karma for it). In business, 'လက်လွှတ်တယ်' is often used to save face. Instead of saying 'I failed,' one might say 'I chose to let it go.' While 'လက်လွှတ်' is usually for loss, in a Buddhist context, being able to 'let go' of attachments is a sign of spiritual progress, though 'စွန့်လွှတ်' is more common there.
