In the Levant, people often use hand gestures alongside this phrase to be very clear. In the Gulf, directions are often given with a nod of the head or a slight movement of the chin. Egyptians are very expressive; expect a lot of arm movement when using this phrase. In the Maghreb, French influence sometimes leads to using 'gauche' instead of 'يسار' in very casual speech.
