Temporal Markers
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Temporal markers define when an action occurs, usually placed at the start or end of a sentence for emphasis.
- Place 'Azi' (Today) at the start for emphasis: 'Azi mergem la piață.'
- Use 'Deja' (Already) before the verb: 'Am mâncat deja.'
- Use 'Încă' (Still/Yet) before the verb: 'Încă nu am plecat.'
Meanings
Temporal markers are words or phrases that specify the time frame of an action, helping the listener understand the sequence of events.
Definite Time
Specific points in time like today, yesterday, or tomorrow.
“Azi este luni.”
“Ieri am lucrat mult.”
Frequency
How often an action occurs.
“Mereu ajung la timp.”
“Uneori citesc seara.”
Duration/State
Indicating if an action is ongoing or completed.
“Încă dorm.”
