In Iran, using 'begu' can sometimes be too direct. People often use 'befarmāyid' (please go ahead) even in semi-informal settings to show extra politeness. In Tehran, 'begu' is often followed by 'dige' (already/then) to show that the listener is very eager or slightly impatient. When someone calls you and says 'Hello', answering with 'Begu janam' is a sign of a very close and loving relationship.
