Possessive Suffixes: Singular Owner

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Hungarian, we don't use 'my' or 'your' as separate words; we attach a suffix to the end of the noun.

  • For 'my' (1st person), add -m or -om/-em/-öm depending on the vowel harmony.
  • For 'your' (2nd person), add -d or -od/-ed/-öd depending on the vowel harmony.
  • For 'his/her/its' (3rd person), add -ja/-je or -a/-e depending on the noun ending.
Noun + Suffix = Possessed Object
