Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Hungarian, we don't use 'my' or 'your' as separate words; we attach a suffix to the end of the noun.
- For 'my' (1st person), add -m or -om/-em/-öm depending on the vowel harmony.
- For 'your' (2nd person), add -d or -od/-ed/-öd depending on the vowel harmony.
- For 'his/her/its' (3rd person), add -ja/-je or -a/-e depending on the noun ending.

Hungarians value directness in possession. Using the suffix is the standard way to show ownership.
Some dialects use slightly different vowel variations.
Younger speakers might use slang words like 'haver' (buddy) with these suffixes.
These suffixes evolved from ancient Uralic pronominal roots that were attached to nouns to indicate the possessor.
