Basic Punctuation Rules
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Mongolian uses Cyrillic punctuation similar to English, but with specific rules for sentence endings and lists.
- Use a period (.) at the end of a declarative sentence: 'Би сургуульд явна.'
- Use a question mark (?) for inquiries: 'Та сайн байна уу?'
- Use a comma (,) to separate items in a list: 'Алим, лийр, жүрж.'
Meanings
Punctuation marks in Mongolian define the boundaries of thoughts and the tone of a sentence.
