Check your gender

Always pause and think: 'Am I male or female?' before choosing the ending.
⚠️

Don't forget the auxiliary

The participle alone is not a full sentence in the past tense.
🎯

Listen for the 'l'

Native speakers emphasize the 'l' in the participle; it's a great way to identify the past tense.
💬

Regional variations

Don't be surprised if you hear 'san' instead of 'sam' on the coast.

Smart Tips

Think of the subject's gender first.

Ja (female) radio. Ja (female) radila.

Always remember the 'li' particle.

Jesi radio? Jesi li radio?

If there's one man, use masculine plural.

One (mixed) radile. Oni (mixed) radili.

Attach 'ni' to the auxiliary.

Ja sam ne radio. Ja nisam radio.

उच्चारण

The 'l' is always pronounced clearly, like the 'l' in 'love'.
