Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Hungarian, you don't need a verb for 'is' or 'are' when talking about the 3rd person.
- Omit 'van' (is) for 3rd person singular: 'Ő boldog' (He is happy).
- Omit 'vannak' (are) for 3rd person plural: 'Ők boldogok' (They are happy).
- Use the verb only for existence or location: 'A könyv az asztalon van' (The book is on the table).
