Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Indonesian, adjectives always come AFTER the noun they describe, unlike in English where they come before.
- Place the noun first: 'Buku' (book) + 'baru' (new) = 'Buku baru'.
- Do not use 'is' or 'are' for simple descriptions: 'Buku baru' (The book is new).
- For multiple adjectives, just stack them after the noun: 'Buku baru merah' (The new red book).
Meanings
Adjectives in Indonesian act as modifiers that follow the noun they modify, creating a direct link between the object and its quality.

Describing a noun directly.

“Orang baik”
Predicative Use
Stating the quality of a noun without a verb.
“Kopi ini panas”
