Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

In Indonesian, adjectives always come AFTER the noun they describe, unlike in English where they come before.

  • Place the noun first: 'Buku' (book) + 'baru' (new) = 'Buku baru'.
  • Do not use 'is' or 'are' for simple descriptions: 'Buku baru' (The book is new).
  • For multiple adjectives, just stack them after the noun: 'Buku baru merah' (The new red book).
Noun 👤 + Adjective 🎨 = Noun-Adjective 👤🎨

Stating the quality of a noun without a verb.
