Review Summary

  • Men (I), Sen (You-inf), Siz (You-form)
  • Noun + [Suffix]
  • Men + [Profession/Nationality] + [Suffix]
  • Siz + [Noun] + -syz/-siz

자주 하는 실수

In Kazakh, you cannot omit the 'to be' suffix like in Russian or sometimes English. You must attach the copula to the noun.

Wrong: Мен студент. (Men student.)
정답: Мен студентпін. (Men studentpin.)

Vowel harmony error. 'Мұғалім' ends with a soft 'i', so the suffix must also be the soft 'min', not the hard 'myn'.

Wrong: Мен мұғалыммын. (Men mughalymmyn.)
정답: Мен мұғаліммін. (Men mughalimmin.)

Mismatch of pronoun and suffix. 'Sen' (informal) requires '-syң', while '-siz' requires the formal 'Siz'.

Wrong: Сен кімсіз? (Sen kimsiz?)
정답: Сіз кімсіз? (Siz kimsiz?)

Next Steps

You've officially started your Kazakh journey! Being able to say who you are is a massive milestone. Keep that momentum going into the next chapter!
