Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use the -maqshy/-mekshi suffix to express firm intentions or planned actions in the near future.

  • Add -maqshy/-mekshi to the verb stem based on vowel harmony: 'Men barmaqshymyn' (I intend to go).
  • Use the copula 'myn/min' or 'syn/sin' to indicate the subject: 'Sen kelmekshisin' (You intend to come).
  • For negatives, add 'em' or 'ma' before the suffix: 'Men barmaq emespin' (I do not intend to go).

🎯

Negative form

Use 'emes' after the suffix to make it negative. It's cleaner than other forms.
