Negating Verbs (না - na)
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
To make a verb negative in Bengali, simply place the particle 'না' (na) after the verb.
- Place 'না' after the verb: আমি খাই (I eat) -> আমি খাই না (I do not eat).
- The particle 'না' does not change form regardless of the subject.
- In formal speech, the verb might change slightly, but 'না' remains the constant marker.
