Simple Present Endings

Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use the Simple Present to describe habits or facts by adding gender-number specific suffixes to the verb root.

  • Identify the verb root by removing the -vu suffix (e.g., khavu -> kha).
  • Add -u, -o, -i, or -a based on the subject's gender and number.
  • Add the auxiliary verb 'chu' (am/is/are) to complete the sentence.
Subject + Verb Root + Suffix (-u/-o/-i/-a) + Auxiliary (chu/che/chhe)
