Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Use 'svoj' instead of 'my', 'your', 'his', or 'her' when the possessor is the same as the subject of the sentence.

  • Use 'svoj' when the subject owns the object: 'Ja čitam svoju knjigu' (I am reading my own book).
  • Do not use 'svoj' if the subject is not the owner: 'Ja čitam tvoju knjigu' (I am reading your book).
  • It must agree in gender, number, and case with the object it describes.
