Complex Noun Phrases: Multiple Cases
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
In Armenian, when you add a case ending to a noun, you only attach it to the final word of the phrase.
- If you have an adjective and a noun, the case suffix goes on the noun: 'մեծ տանը' (in the big house).
- If you have multiple nouns, the suffix usually attaches to the last one: 'մայրիկի և հայրիկի հետ' (with mom and dad).
- Adjectives do not change their form to match the noun's case; they stay in the nominative.

This rule governs how case suffixes (like genitive, dative, or ablative) are distributed across a multi-word noun phrase.
Adjective-Noun Agreement
The case suffix attaches to the noun, not the adjective.
