Simple Past Endings for -ė Stem Verbs
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
For verbs ending in -ėti, drop the -ti and add -ėjo to form the past tense for all persons.
- Drop the infinitive suffix -ti: 'norėti' becomes 'norė-'.
- Add the past suffix -ėjo: 'norė' + 'jo' = 'norėjo'.
- The form remains the same for all subjects (aš, tu, jis, mes, jūs, jie): 'Jis norėjo', 'Mes norėjome' (wait, check stem: -ėjo verbs are consistent).
