लम्बा

When you want to describe something as 'tall' or 'long' in Hindi, you use the word लम्बा (lambā).

For example, if you see a tall building, you can say यह लम्बा घर है। (yah lambā ghar hai). This translates to 'This is a tall house.'

If you're talking about something long, like a rope, you could say यह लम्बी रस्सी है। (yah lambī rassī hai). This means 'This is a long rope.'

Notice that the ending changes slightly depending on if the noun is masculine or feminine. For masculine nouns, it's लम्बा, and for feminine nouns, it's लम्बी.

When using the word लम्बा (lambā), meaning 'tall' or 'long', it's important to remember that it's an adjective. This means it will change its ending to agree with the gender and number of the noun it describes.

For example, for a masculine singular noun like आदमी (ād आदमी – man), you would say लम्बा आदमी (lambā ād आदमी – tall man). For a feminine singular noun like लड़की (laṛkī – girl), it becomes लम्बी लड़की (lambī laṛkī – tall girl).

If you're talking about multiple masculine things, like पेड़ (peṛ – trees), you'd use लम्बे पेड़ (lambe peṛ – tall trees). And for multiple feminine things, like दीवारें (dīvāreṁ – walls), it would be लम्बी दीवारें (lambī dīvāreṁ – long walls).
