Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

Adverbs of degree tell us the intensity of an adjective or verb, usually placed directly before the word they modify.

  • Place 'sangat' (very) before adjectives: 'Sangat cantik' (Very beautiful).
  • Use 'terlalu' (too) for excess: 'Terlalu mahal' (Too expensive).
  • Use 'sedikit' (a little) to soften: 'Sedikit lelah' (A little tired).
Intensifier + Adjective/Verb = Intensity
