Review Summary

  • [Subject/Object] + [Verb] + [Clitic]

Häufige Fehler

Even in archaic styles, starting a sentence with a clitic (naslonka) is generally avoided in Slovenian unless it is a very specific dialectal or extremely rare stylistic choice.

Wrong: Sem ga videl včeraj.
Richtig: Videl sem ga včeraj.

Putting the auxiliary verb 'bil' at the very end without a specific rhythmic reason can sound like a bad translation from German rather than a poetic archaism.

Wrong: On je v mestu bil.
Richtig: V mestu je bil.

Inverting the adjective and noun (Lep tisti...) requires a specific poetic meter; if the rhythm is clunky, the inversion fails to be 'literary'.

Wrong: Lep tisti cvet je.
Richtig: Tisti cvet je lep.
