Forming the Dative: -ին, -ուն
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use -ին or -ուն to show who or what receives an action, acting like 'to' or 'for' in English.
- Add -ին to most nouns ending in a consonant: 'տուն' (house) becomes 'տանը' (to the house).
- Add -ին to most nouns ending in a vowel: 'ընկեր' (friend) becomes 'ընկերոջը' (to the friend).
- Use -ուն for specific plural nouns or personal pronouns: 'մեզ' (us) becomes 'մեզուն' (rare/dialectal).
