Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds

The dative case (-e/-a) indicates movement toward a destination or a target, acting like the English 'to'.

  • Use -e if the last vowel is e, i, ö, ü (e.g., eve).
  • Use -a if the last vowel is a, ı, o, u (e.g., okula).
  • If the word ends in a vowel, add a buffer 'y' (e.g., arabaya).
Noun + (-e/-a) = Destination/Target
