Discourse particles like 'ғой', 'ау', and 'шығар' add emotional nuance and speaker attitude to your Kazakh sentences.
- Use 'ғой' to confirm known information: 'Бұл жақсы ғой' (This is good, you know).
- Use 'шығар' to express uncertainty or probability: 'Ол келеді шығар' (He might come).
- Use 'ау' to express surprise or emotional emphasis: 'Не болды ау?' (What on earth happened?).
Meanings
Discourse particles are uninflected words that do not change the grammatical structure but modify the speaker's tone, certainty, or emotional stance.
Confirmation (ғой)
Used when the speaker assumes the listener already knows or agrees with the fact.
“Бұл оңай ғой.”

Uncertainty (шығар)
Expresses a guess, probability, or 'maybe'.
