Past Counterfactuals
Grammar Rule in 30 Seconds
Use the past counterfactual to talk about things that didn't happen in the past by using the conditional suffix '-sa/-se' plus 'edі'.
- Use the '-sa/-se' suffix on the verb root: 'барса' (if went).
- Add 'edі' to express the past unreal state: 'барса еді' (if only I had gone).
- Combine with the main clause to show the result: 'барсаң, көрер едің' (if you had gone, you would have seen).

Meanings
This structure expresses hypothetical situations in the past that did not actually occur. It is used for regrets, missed chances, or imagining alternative histories.
